This small package of a doll is just perfect in almost every way. I love her sleepy looking eyes, her curvy little body, the leather hands that go all the way to her elbows. The dress with the coverall apron has been on her forever, maybe. All the way down to her feet that have the best little shoes, not original but look so good on her...

Sometimes dolls look like they don't want to be wearing fufu but something tells me this doll loves the bow in her hair and bustle on the back of her skirt. She looks like she is all hand sewn, she had material for hair but the mohair is all worn off so it is a nice tan fabric sewn on around her face and covering the back of her head. Her socks are woolen and you can see there is some moth damage. Her feet are nicely formed so the socks could come off...

This is a very nice painted face cloth doll with an all original body. The back of her head is painted brown and then a black painted strip around her face to suggest she has black hair. She is hand sewn except for her stitched defined fingers. She is 23" tall. I don't believe any of her clothes are original but are antique and they look like have been on her a while. She is stuffed with cotton and has a nice feel but is not a real heavy doll...

A very nice spun cotton doll with a very clever way of dressing her. Her inner core is spun cotton and around that is a heavy piece of paper roll with a big of a flare so the skirt is wider at the bottom than at the waist. The use of the blanket stitch for the outline and trim she has a muff, with arms going into it and a bonnet on her head with a cloak covering her shoulders and coming to a point at the back of her skirt...

This lovely late 19th C. black cloth doll is made with fine polished cotton material, all hand sewn and hand painted. The white band at her neck is part of her clothing and is not a neck stabilizer. The doll and the clothes appear to be hand sewn by the same seamstress/mother/Grammy. The astrakhan hair is the best I have every seen and makes her hairdo look very fashionable. As found all hand sewn, sepia drawn face, forever clothes, (been on her forever) that are hand made and now in tones of brown. (Skirt has faded from blue to brown in the front.) I call these dolls, relics! They shouldn't be redressed in my opinion but enjoyed for what they are. Under her apron, blouse and skirt are underclothes that look like they were all made by the same hand. This is a big old fashion linen homespun rag doll with a great pencil face. She has wear and recovering on her arms and legs. Her face is a very old recover that is also real homespun linen. The back of her head is amazing, see picture to appreciate this great old doll. She is rag stuffed and very heavy. She has funny replaced feet. She is not jointed at her hips but from years of forced sitting she will sit. She is as found and is wearing a period two piece blue polka dot dress...

Big bold painted face doll with sewn on original dress, (apron is old but probably not original.) She is soft and floppy even her head, but with a wall behind her the head stays upright. She sits really easily, and is the perfect weight and feel to be carted around. She is 23" tall and circa 1900-1920. Mid-west origin.

Under the great blue calico bonnet this doll has a worn and wrinkle face with a pencil dot for eyes and a pencil line for a mouth. Her nose has gone flat but the bonnet makes her look adorable. She is a homemade beauty, she sits like she has done yoga all her life. Her blue calico dress is voluminous and hides her rather average size body. She can almost do a split her legs go so far apart. She had a slip and undies under her dress and has black socks and brown shoes on...

This tiny bisque fully jointed doll just 2" long has a beautiful little painted face with bright blue eyes, rosy cheeks, blond hair and even blond eyebrows...

The face on this rag doll couldn't be more understated. Just some deepening of color for eyes, nose and mouth. She has a solid body that feels like it is stuffed with rags. Her arms end in little flat fabric with stitches for defined fingers but no stuffing, does the job with no big deal. She has on a faded red calico dress with a black and white calico apron. The dress is a little long but fits her nicely. Her arms and legs are jointed so she sits well. She is 12" tall and is circa 1890.

This wonderful topsy turvey is in almost original condition. I don't think she was played with or handled that much but is definitely old and right. Both faces are done by the same hand. The are very nicely done in a very direct manner by an unskilled hand that really was good. The white doll has a bonnet and a blouse and a soft pink cotton skirt. This is a sweet faced little cloth doll with a pinched raised nose, button eyes, feather stitched eyebrows and pink floss mouth. I think she was a white doll first and covered about 1910 with black sateen, see picture of her legs. She has a sturdy body, simple arms and legs that do bend for sitting. Surprisingly this is and always has been a bottle doll door stop. She is beautifully dressed with layers of clothes. She has flax hair, and ink drawn face with a bit of a startled look. She has on a black hat with great posies across the front. I have had a few white doll doorstops but this is by far the best. She is 15" tall and is circa 1890.

I am partial to sister dolls and have been collecting them for years. I have always liked these two. I had dressed them, it is very hard to find two dresses alike as you can imagine and they rarely have their matching dresses 120 years later. No question the same person made both dolls. This lovely antique black cloth doll with a simple pencil face is stuffed with rags. I can't remember ever having another black doll with a pencil face. She is an early doll and night have two other faces under this one. Her body is very firmly stuffed with cotton.
