In this wonderful, finely embroidered face, black doll you can see fatigue. It makes me wonder just who did make this very fine cloth doll. She is wearing a calico skirt under a work apron, with a blouse and a shoulder scarf. On her feet are hand sewn fabric boots. She is jointed, stuffed firmly with cotton, is holding a baby wearing a bonnet and a bow...

This is a tiny wooden doll wearing her original clothes. She has on a golden brown silk dress with blue trim. Under her dress she is wearing a fabulous woolen petticoat with a white petticoat under that. She has wooden arms and no legs. I don't feel any attachment under her skirt just the wooden body but she likely had legs. She has original paint still on her head and face...

Baby is a big heavy plump doll, all original body and painted face. She has on a dress that fits perfectly but probably isn't original. Her face is worn a little but no damage, maybe it has darkened with age? I think she is the best baby. Nice defined fingers and separate thumbs. She has lost a lot of stuffing in her arms, I don't know how, and her legs have black stockings sewn on but everything feels right and original She is 20" tall and circa 1880

Lovely old cloth doll stuffed with rags, really solid and heavy in possibly an original dress. She is completely jointed, nicely constructed, old petticoat and pantaloons. She has dainty pointed feet, stitched defined thumb and fingers and the back of her head is covered with brown fabric that also looks original. Her face is embroiderer nicely with brown floss and you can tell she was made by a happy person. 23" tall and C.1890

Maybe you are like a lot of women, some days you wake up and feel pretty good then you look in the mirror and say, boy looks like I could use another 8 or 10 hours of sleep. Well this doll doesn't have to worry about that. She can be as beautiful or as rough around the edges as the day produces and we are never going to know it. We will remember her soft and flowing antique blouse and skirt...

This nice antique cloth doll has the eighteen hundreds straight red embroidered line for a mouth that allows her to have many or no emotions. She has two dots for a nose but the mother went the extra length to put stuffing under to give her a raised nose. She has really nicely embroidered eyes with little stitched eyelashes on the top lids. She has astrakhan trim hair that is firmly stitched on. She has jointed arms and the knees are stitched to bend so she sits easily...

This sweet little black doll has the look of a 24" doll. She is old, her clothes are early, soft and hang nicely. Her leather shoes are original and it is always a mystery of how they get so worn. She has raised eyes and mouth done with layers of yarn. She has a cotton stuffed curvy little body that sits easily. Her yellow dress is a little fragile and the kerchief around her shoulders is old but not as old as she is. She is 13" tall and C. 1890

This rag doll has the gift of giving comfort just by looking at her. She is a little soft, her dress has been on her forever and has wear here and there. Under her dress she is wearing undies that look original. She is all hand sewn with fairly big stitches but sewn really nicely. Her legs are large and sturdy with feet that point east and west. No big or even little boo boos other than a little hole at her mouth. Maybe too much kissing or maybe the act of feeding a little porridge now and then...

This is a doll with a water colorpainted face on very fine linen. This is her second face and if you look at her arms that are really worn she has had a full and busy life. I wouldn't want to take this face off, it is so nice with its little worried expression. (The second face is very old not just done.) Her body is all original, she came with a blouse and petticoat and I added the brown wool skirt. She is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees. She is firmly stuffed with cotton. 19" and C...

This is a very nice 1830 milliner doll with a contoured anf paper-mache painted face. Her body is cloth and her arms and legs are wood. The spoon hands have defined thumbs. She has on a dress that had to have been made for her but maybe 50-100 years ago. It is all hand sewn and maybe it is early than I am saying. Her undergarments look original and another dress might be her original one. She has two small flakes off either side of her head, some lines on her face...

The wooden doll fragment has some original paint. She is all one piece of wood even her tiny nose. She has a touch of original pink on both cheeks. She has some black paint on part of the back of her head that was her hair. She feels lovely to the touch. She is a real treasure. She is not quite 8" tall and is circa 1790-1820.

Extremely early bedpost doll with carved features...

This very nice hand-carved wooden doll and some original paint on the face and shoulders. She has a very round head, deep-set eyes and a nose carved and protruding but still out of the one piece of wood. Her legs were inset and pegged in place. Now she is a wonderful fragment 10" tall and mounted on a professional frame. (There are a few very old worm holes, please see close-up picture.) Circa 1800-1830.

Antique wooden doll, possibly was a bed wrench converted into a doll or a bed post doll. She is pine and primitively carved and from the early 1800's. She is wearing a later dress but still a 19th C. one. She has no arms and never did and might be the reason she was made into a doll. She has some holes on one leg, see picture but they don't look like worm holes to me they are more of a shallow hole. She is 14" tall, circa 1830 and a great early primitive doll.
