Pencil face cloth doll is 21” tall, with a big lollipop head that can nod back and forth just a little. She has a firmly packed body with attached arms and continuous legs that do bend for sitting a lot over the years. It is a bit of a forced sit. She has a curved body in at the waist and would at the hips and chest. She has black sock and red boot shoes that have been sewn on and I think are original. She is wearing an antique pair of pantaloons with an antique dress that fits her very well...

This big doll no nonsense painted face doll with kind eyes was made with a body and face that match. They are both strong looking, will withstand a lot and be a good companion for a little girl. She is the kindly auntie that can't be there all the time. She is stuffed firmly with rags with cotton stuffed arms and legs. The paint is more a water color than an oil paint. It is flat color and sinks into the fabric. Her lips are the only exception, they are painted with a bittersweet oil paint...

This doll is the first kind of cloth dolls that started to come to market in the 1970's. There were not many cloth dolls in shops or at shows but when I found them they were sort of like this. Simple and straight forward. She has the early hour glass figure and adding to that look is a serious leather corset that was probably made from the top of an old shoe. She is hand sewn, cotton stuffed rather firmly, nicely shaped feet, one nice leather shoe over black stockings...

This is a wonderful wooden Native American doll with original clothing. He is pretty much untouched. He may have had a jacket or vest but I don't see any signs of that. His head is removeable but looks completely original. He is hand sewn clothes, has bead work around his sleeves but nowhere else. His boots are sturdy leather with leather trim in colors of red and tan. The wooden torso is in two pieces allowing him to bend at the waist about 1/2" back and forth. He is heavy for his size...

As found all hand sewn, sepia drawn face, forever clothes, (been on her forever) that are hand made and now in tones of brown. (Skirt has faded from blue to brown in the front.) I call these dolls, relics! They shouldn't be redressed in my opinion but enjoyed for what they are. Not all dolls that are 17" tall look 17" tall and this in one of those dolls. Her stockinette body, while it is curvy is not big, it is softly stuffed and small around. My index finger and thumb go around her waist and touch. Her face kind of looks embroidered in pictures but it is a really nicely painted. It is not fragile even though the paint has body to it, maybe it is an oil paint. Under her painted mouth she has a two stitch mend. Her hair is made with, astrakhan, a lambs wool trim...

A very nice antique black cloth doll with a wonderful embroidered face. She has knotted wool hair pulled through heavy foundation fabric. Her head is round and very hard, her chest is very firm also. Her hips are wide but cotton stuffed as well as her legs. She is very interesting and I can't exactly tell how she was made but I think she is all original and has stockinette and fabric combined in her making. Her dress doesn't come off. Early, old, adorable button eyes, embroidered mouth, and was flannel I think. Rover is so worn that the fabric is flat. He has a not so great mend on one side of him. He is not fragile at all so maybe he was hurt in some way rather than from old age and being worn out. 7" long and 6" high. C. 1880

This doll has a very early body and was recovered from the waist up in the late 1800's. She feels like she has another face under this one but this has been on there so long I wouldn't want to take it off. Cloth dolls come in all sizes and all kinds of bodies and faces and they can be so unique. This one doesn't really stand out in a crowd but she does hold her own in a spot light setting. She is all hand sewn, has great braided hair framing her face and is wearing a lovely old brown calico dress and velvet bonnet. Her body is stuffed with cotton and she sits easily. Surprisingly this is and always has been a bottle doll door stop. She is beautifully dressed with layers of clothes. She has flax hair, and ink drawn face with a bit of a startled look. She has on a black hat with great posies across the front. I have had a few white doll doorstops but this is by far the best. She is 15" tall and is circa 1890.

This antique straw stuffed doll had an embroidered nose, just traces left, ink painted eyes and eyebrows and stitched and painted mouth, both a mere shadow of itself. Her body is all original and as I tried taking off her clothes they had been on and not disrupted for a long time I decided not to pull them all off. Wonderful and unusual leather black doll that is cuddly to hold. Even though she only has a blouse and skirt and pantaloons that are all sewn on, her body is stuffed with cotton with just the right amount to make her feel like there are layers and layers of clothes. This small pencil drawn face doll is all cotton stuffed, hand sewn, wonderful clothes, little pigeon toed feet with worn black socks. Her dress is lined with lace trim, under that she has a blouse and petticoat. The close-up camera shot sees her face as lighter and the pencil drawing darker than it really is. This is a beautiful wax over Paper Mache doll with pupiless glass eyes. She has a beautiful face with some loss of paint and some repaint. She has a break at the back of her shoulder plate. The good news is she is 23" tall and has on a very nice but fragile period dress and pantaloons. Her face is beautiful and does not look repainted or damaged until you get close. This little pint sized cloth doll has a very intricately embroidered face. Very tiny schooled stitches, so nice. She is all hand sewn, I believe that her clothes are all original and her socks are knitted two tone so they look like shoes and socks. Really very clever. She is solid as a rock, I have no idea what she is stuffed with but with her arms and legs are jointed so she can sit easily.
