This large antique black doll has embroidered face with beads for her eyes and mouth, I have never seen this before on a black doll. Her nose I think is would and covered with embroidery floss. He eyebrows are raised also with the use of the same embroidery floss as the nose. She has the lambs wool astrakhan hair. The fabric on her face is a fine silk wool that has shredded on her cheeks but there are several layers of cloth under it so it isn't so obvious...

This fine antique cloth doll all hand-sewn with a delicately embroidered face, pinched nose, and rosy cheeks have an air of sophistication. She has on a two-piece soft blue-green wool dress, faded some in the front, with antique petticoat and pantaloons, sock, and leather shoes. Her hair is a black silk fabric with some shredding and a bun at the back of her neck. She is constructed with very fine linen and is stuffed quite firmly with raw wool. This is a very special doll. 21" and C. 1880

This boy doll has a proud stance and a great outfit. His hands and feet are big and terrific. His hat is made out of a tin can! His clothes I think are original. Most cloth dolls probably don't have original clothes but there is an exception and that is, Boy Dolls. Boy dolls were often made for a boy and the doll didn't get played with the way girl dolls did. So that said, I do feel this doll is pretty much all original. He is heavy and packed pretty tightly with cotton and wool stuffing...

This early cloth doll is beautifully made, all hand sewn, very firmly packed with cotton and maybe rags also, and is reinforced with a wooden stick so her head stable, no back and forth wobble. Her face is precious with bead eyes and embroidered raised nose and mouth. The back half of her head is covered with brown cotton and gathered a bit at the back of her neck and I think it is original and is representing hair or a cap. Her body is lanky with long arms and legs that are fully jointed...

This lovely late 19th C. black cloth doll is made with fine polished cotton material, all hand sewn and hand painted. The white band at her neck is part of her clothing and is not a neck stabilizer. The doll and the clothes appear to be hand sewn by the same seamstress/mother/Grammy. The astrakhan hair is the best I have every seen and makes her hairdo look very fashionable. There is a little give to the cotton stuffed hourglass shaped body...

This small package of a doll is just perfect in almost every way. I love her sleepy looking eyes, her curvy little body, the leather hands that go all the way to her elbows. The dress with the coverall apron has been on her forever, maybe. All the way down to her feet that have the best little shoes, not original but look so good on her...

This very nice center seam face doll with ears and naïve painted face and hair. She has a gracefulness about her. Her arms are created with a curve, she has nicely sloped shoulders that gives her a look of the proper Bostonian. She is cotton stuffed with a little give. She is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees. Her undergarments are quite lovely. Her chemise has tape as garters that are holding up her stockings...

This is a wonderful cloth doll with a naïve nicely painted face, no in painting except a little on the back of her head. She has big brown eyes, rosy cheeks and a rose bud mouth. She has a firmly stuffed cloth body with attached arms and legs and has jointed knees. She has on a hand sewn blue polka dot dress that fits her perfectly and may be original and a white petticoat the is a little tight around her waist and is not original but does the trick...

This is a most unusual very appealing small doll very much the young lady, with a center seam face, applied ears and sewn on pelt hair. (Please look at the picture of the hair, I think it is deer pelt and is fashioned to look like arranged hair.) She has a drawn face with bead eyes. She is wearing a brown printed dress all hand sewn with a pocket on one side...

And I believe her! She is a no nonsense doll, stern but not mean. At 27" she sits and stands tall, her body is strong and firm and her head is upright. She is fully jointed and has fingers and thumbs. Her hands are unique, the maker sewed the outline of the fingers with the two pieces of cloth face out and then cut around the outside so there is a raw cut that is a bit messy looking but it worked. Certainly much easier that sewing on the wrong side pushing the fingers out. She is wearing a brow...

This is a wonderful wooden Native American doll with original clothing. He is pretty much untouched. He may have had a jacket or vest but I don't see any signs of that. His head is removeable but looks completely original. He is hand sewn clothes, has bead work around his sleeves but nowhere else. This bold stockinette black doll is very likely all original. She has a great face that is shaped by the pinched nose and a slightly pinched chin. I don't recall seeing a pinched chin like that before. She has astrakhan hair covered with matching scarves on her head and around her bodice. This antique handsewn doll has the early sloped shoulders, with carefully pieced construction, finely embroidered face with pinched raised nose, detailed lips, eyes and eyebrows. Her body is the hourglass shape, her legs are continuous and even though she is not jointed, she sits easily. She has great astrakhan hair. She is cotton stuffed rather firmly, has sewn on socks and rounded off hands. She is wearing a skirt and blouse, petticoat and bloomers all antique but not original, just nice. The ...

Under the great blue calico bonnet this doll has a worn and wrinkle face with a pencil dot for eyes and a pencil line for a mouth. Her nose has gone flat but the bonnet makes her look adorable. She is a homemade beauty, she sits like she has done yoga all her life. Her blue calico dress is voluminous and hides her rather average size body. She can almost do a split her legs go so far apart. She had a slip and undies under her dress and has black socks and brown shoes on. She looks so comfortable...

This doll holds her head up high, has a hint of a smile, has a great body, sits nicely, doesn't cause any trouble and hasn't complained that her dress doesn't have any buttons or quite meet at the neck. This very nice painted face cloth doll has a lovely minimally painted face with dark eyes and a soft red nicely shaped lips. Her body is hard packed with a broad chest reflecting the period. This is a great black doll 22” tall, firmly stuffed with cotton, jointed arms and legs but the arms do not bend a lot. She has an embroidered face with tiny stitches and great round eyes. She has brown material for hair that has lost the pile so it is just material. Her hands both are mostly missing stuffing but a good portion of the material is still there. She has big long feet.
