This is a very special black doll. She is 16" tall, is rag stuffed and heavy. She has woeful stitched face with small pearl button eyes. Her arms are jointed but her legs are not but she sits really easily. She is wearing an old red wool dress with lace at the bodice and trim around the neck and hem. She is sewn in but you can see she is wearing a fine knit onesie underneath. She has little recovered hands, someone cared enough to cover them. She has holes, the dress has holes, she is amazing...

He is big, rag stuffed heavy, and is in really good condition. His face is expertly embroidered and the maker has given him golden brown eyes and hair to match. His chunky body is wearing the cutest pair of jeans and a white shirt with a big wide blue collar and cuffs. He is jointed at hips and shoulders do sitting is not problem, unless you think he could use a little more exercise. He is 22" tall and big and heavy. C.1890 Something new, make an offer.

Well I am not sure Mother Congress would recognize this doll unless she took off her dress. This doll has to have had many hundreds of hours of play. The dress is obviously not original but I am sure it is nicer than a lot of dresses she has worn. She is 18" tall, cotton stuffed, many stitches replaces but surprisingly no holes just a worn area at the tip of her right hand. She sure isn't a Sunday doll but she could use a few understanding friends! Circa 1900...

This is a very nice example of a black cloth broom doll. I don't get these very often and this one has the best face. The embroidery is densely stitched and she is quite early. She is wearing a blue calico dress that is faded and shows wear. There is a mend on her skirt that is crude but works. The top layer of black stockinette has weakness and some holes. This dear little black doll came right out of a house in Tennessee. She has the best thread hair, embroidered face, button eyes, pinched raised nose and lots of little and not so little mends on her face. She has a painted red mouth that can be seen if you look carefully, it is really faded. I have made the mends more visible by lightening the closeup picture but in regular light, they are hardly noticeable. She is firmly stuffed with cotton, jointed at the shoulders and legs...

Very unusual painted face character doll with the best laughing eyes. So many dolls are either very pretty or have a very neutral face with a straight line for a mouth, this doll leaves nothing to the imagination, she is down right giddy. How cool is that! She is painted with oil paint on fabric with most of the fabric showing through, not from wear but the way she was painted. She had great painted copper colored hair that is painted in swirls. She has a chunky firmly stuffed with cotton body...

With a little homespun linen top over a red hand sewn cotton dress, this sweet late 1800's doll is in very nice condition. Her body is all original and stuffed with cotton and rags making her quite heavy. She sits easily and holds her round bald head upright with hardly a bauble. Her face is very carefully hand sewn with a protruding pinched nose, embroidered and applied eyes and a smiling mouth with lots of teeth. She is 19" tall and C. 1890-1900

This is a pull toy rabbit on a wood platform and wooden wheels. The rabbit is paper mache or press cardboard maybe is more accurate but old. The purple hat is felt. She has glass eyes. She is just the best. 7 1/2" long 5" wide and 7" to the top of her ears and is circa 1890-1910

This very dear pensive blue ink drawn face doll is the quiet one. She is comforting and soft, her dress is a soft gray blue, her apron is old windowpane fabric with a touch of lace. She has a nice old onesie on underneath. There is nothing spectacular about her she is just nice. Sometimes we could all use a little bit of nice. She is cotton stuffed has a hole in the toe of one foot other than that there is not much to know. She is hand sewn and even though she is not jointed she sits nicely...

This doll looks like one a Grammy made. She has a straight none committing mouth, a V shaped nose and blue outlined eyes with black eyebrows. She had some reddish brown hair but all that is left is a thin line around her head on the seam. She has firm but not too firm cotton stuffed body that has a broad chest, and indented waist with just a bit of a flare to her hips. Jointed arms and legs but strangely doesn't have hands at the end of her arms but she has great feet, take a look...

This beautifully hand carved granny dressed for a party is irresistible. She is all wood, spoon shaped hands, long skinny legs with just a little bit of shape and a face that you know you have seen before, sitting on the cabin porch. She is all original, is i10 1/2" and I think was made around 1900. She sits easily and he arms move nicely, and her condition is really good, her hair do and glasses are the finishing touches. This is one big heavy girl with a long face and slightly drooping cheeks. She is no spring chicken so I call her Mother Hen, in a loving way. She is 26" tall, big chunky all original body and big practical shoes. Her head is floppy but stays upright leaning against a wall or chair back. Circa 1900-1910

At least that is what I would think at first look. But, this doll is so cute from the back I felt like it should be shown as important. The front of her is adorable and funny. The face is very unique and done by someone that clearly didn't want to embroider fancy features. She is 16" tall, dressed for the coldest of weather, her Mommy made sure she would be warm and now she looks lost. She is almost as wide as she is tall. The clothes are all original, the coat is nicely made and completely lined. Under the coat is a brown dress with a woven in pattern and undies to match. Very nice Beecher doll by a cottage industry in Elmira NY missionary group from 1893 to 1910. They followed a pattern but each doll is just a little different as the sewing was a group project.. This one has been recovered with black fabric over the original brown fabric. The brown fabric was not that sturdy and is often in fragile condition. She is wearing a red calico dress but probably not original. She is 20" tall

Not often do I get a doll that has documentation of the maker, this doll does. She is all original with a red calico dress and bandana, white apron, petticoat and bloomers. Her body and legs are made of wood and she has big flat shoes that probably allowed her to stand alone but she is old now and doesn't do that well. I am trying not to relate to that! This sweet little antique cloth doll is wearing black calico dress that might be original it fits her so well. She has embroidered eyes and a hint that she had an embroidered nose and probably a mouth. She has the great astrakhan hair that says she was made around 1890 and the dress is that era too. She has jointed arms and legs, is stuffed with cotton sort of medium firm. She is a very nice old but nicely cared for antique cloth doll. 10" tall.

Alice has blue eyes, orange nose and red line mouth that is sad or more likely it was straight across and now the ends are not tacked down so they droop. She is hand sewn from a nice homespun linen but her legs are a cotton and of a lesser quality. I think the legs are original maybe they ran out of the homespun.
