Sometimes dolls look like they don't want to be wearing fufu but something tells me this doll loves the bow in her hair and bustle on the back of her skirt. She looks like she is all hand sewn, she had material for hair but the mohair is all worn off so it is a nice tan fabric sewn on around her face and covering the back of her head. Her socks are woolen and you can see there is some moth damage. Her feet are nicely formed so the socks could come off...

Early, old, adorable button eyes, embroidered mouth, and was flannel I think. Rover is so worn that the fabric is flat. He has a not so great mend on one side of him. He is not fragile at all so maybe he was hurt in some way rather than from old age and being worn out. 7" long and 6" high. C. 1880

Bold folk art cloth doll with drawn ink face and button eyes. I love ears and she sure has them. Her body is all original, clothes are antique, she looks great in her bonnet. She is wearing socks with shoes and the shoes fit her perfectly. Sitting in a doll chair really sets her off. She is solid as a rock and is so appealing. Her condition is really good with a few stains here and there and around her eyes and mouth she has mends...see picture...

Sometimes a doll can be appreciated for the marvel of the maker and the caretakers of a doll. She has had loving hands restore her body more than once with really skilled hands. Her body is fashioned like a leather body but there is no leather under this doll's layers of jersey, cotton, linen and maybe a little wool. Her body is so interesting that she would look good exhibited without clothes. She is very firmly stuffed with rags...

Here face is hard to read, her eyes are big round buttons, her nose is one with her eyebrows, her mouth is a V turned upside down, and two circles on either side of her head for ears. She is big and rag stuffed heavy, (I love that). On the top of her head is a braided top knot in the shape of a donut. She is 28" tall, all original except her her clothes that are old and look good on her. So many cloth dolls, all made with cloth and some imagination, can be so different and look so wonderful C...

This small package of a doll is just perfect in almost every way. I love her sleepy looking eyes, her curvy little body, the leather hands that go all the way to her elbows. The dress with the coverall apron has been on her forever, maybe. All the way down to her feet that have the best little shoes, not original but look so good on her...

Isn't she just grand! She is 20" tall and her whole core is a good size log, that has the irregular bumps and flares of the wood that can be felt through the black stockinette covering. She is wearing a red calico print dress with a yellow calico apron. She has a kerchief tied over some animal fur for hair. Button eyes, little bit of a raised nose and a yarn sewn mouth. She is rock solid, very stable and is a great doorstop if your shelves are too full to put her on them...

A very interesting Beecher type black cloth doll with flirty eyes. Before you get really excited about a rare Beecher doll, I think that someone did this later on. Usually there is a piece of shell or white cardboard on either side of the shoe button eye and this is embroidered with white floss on the right sides of her eyes. It could be original but I kind of think not. Anyway, the eyes are old, not newly done by the looks of them and it is very enticing. It makes her very cute...

This dynamic painted face black stockinette doll is a sturdy as you get. She has a solidly packed rag body and head that is really heavy. Under the black stockinette body, her body is covered old blue and white ticking as well as her attached arms and legs. Her hair is two tone crocheted string and yarn. I have never seen this technique before but it is very effective. Her dress fits the top of her so tightly I don't think I can get it off without tearing it...

Here is a doll that has a very pleasing face, nice blue eyes, sepia ink drawn nose and mouth but quite fadedwith a touch of pink on her mouth. She has unkept brown yarn hair, a antique pink dress that suits her personality perfectly. She is cotton stuffed, all hand sewn including stitched defined fingers. She is jointed at her hips and shoulders, so she sits nicely. The string tied on her as a harness is useful and I put it there, to hang her on a wall rather than have her sitting on a shelf. I ...

What do you think, I think she was maybe made with big round eye glasses for an adorable little girl who had glasses just like these? Not only does she wear glasses but this is a second face under this one. I am not even tempted to peek, this one is so great. She also has a replaced arm that has leather below the elbow. She is firmly packed with rags, her arms are jointed and her legs are continuous and she can do a forced sit. Her dress is antique but not original, under her dress she is wearin...

As found all hand sewn, sepia drawn face, forever clothes, (been on her forever) that are hand made and now in tones of brown. (Skirt has faded from blue to brown in the front.) I call these dolls, relics! They shouldn't be redressed in my opinion but enjoyed for what they are. Under her apron, blouse and skirt are underclothes that look like they were all made by the same hand. Maude Witherspoon doll made in New Orleans during a period from approximately 1898 to 1915. She has an oil painted face on a cloth head and body. Her body is all original including the wild plaid legs. She is 15" tall and in good condition, having one scrape around her right eye. These dolls are one of a kind and hand painted so every face is different but the same, making them very identifiable. She has on a plaid dress and bonnet that are not original but nice. She is 15" tall and C. 1898-1915...

A fine embroidered face, bead eye, pelt hair black doll from the coast of Maine. Her face and body are made from a very nice black linen cloth that has lightened a little with age. She is stuffed with cotton, jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees allowing her to sit easily, her head is firmly on her shoulders...no wabble. She is wearing an beige and blue print early dress that is age appropriate but not original to her. She is from Down Maine and I think her face and pelt hair kind of...

With a little homespun linen top over a red hand sewn cotton dress, this sweet late 1800's doll is in very nice condition. Her body is all original and stuffed with cotton and rags making her quite heavy. She sits easily and holds her round bald head upright with hardly a bauble. Her face is very carefully hand sewn with a protruding pinched nose, embroidered and applied eyes and a smiling mouth with lots of teeth. She is 19" tall and C. 1890-1900

Big bold painted face doll with sewn on original dress, (apron is old but probably not original.) She is soft and floppy even her head, but with a wall behind her the head stays upright. She sits really easily, and is the perfect weight and feel to be carted around. She is 23" tall and circa 1900-1920. Mid-west origin.

He is big, rag stuffed heavy, and is in really good condition. His face is expertly embroidered and the maker has given him golden brown eyes and hair to match. His chunky body is wearing the cutest pair of jeans and a white shirt with a big wide blue collar and cuffs. He is jointed at hips and shoulders do sitting is not problem, unless you think he could use a little more exercise. He is 22" tall and big and heavy. C.1890 Something new, make an offer.

Old, worn, hand sewn, holey, patched, replaced arm, and simply wonderful package. She is heavy rag stuffed, has an old curvy body and is wearing a very early handsewn dress that is sewn on. Her animal friend is hand sewn, stuffed sort of firmly, has funny 2nd generation ears and little black floss stitches for eyes. It doesn't need to be complicated to be great.
