These sleeve protectors are hard to come by I think most of them got worn out. This is the third pair I have had in over 40 years. They are a milk chocolate color almost a butterscotch depending on the light. They are adjustable top and bottom. Unlike now when we can throw our clothes into a washer and dryer in the 1800's you wore your dress be it the church going on or the house for weeks if not months without washing. Wearing an apron or coverall and sleeve/cuff protectors were easily washed a...

This blue and white linen homespun towel is of the heavy early style. It is hemmed on three sides with the one end being the salvage. It has seen lots of use and washings and it does have some stains but it is a lovely testament of time. It is 18" by 33" and dates to the 1830-40's.

These little handmade Civil War era dolls are some of my favorite. This one has on a heavy satin dress with a brown egg wash chintz cotton petticoat. she has a net bonnet adorned with a white ribbon over real hair. She is wearing the tiniest metal eye glasses I have ever seen. She has little rolled arms and a stump body that never had legs. Her dress is melting a bit above her waist and there is a crack in the nut shell but an old one and it is hard to see because she is so small. She is 8" tal...

This is a very heavy antique cloth doll with an embroidered face. She is wearing a blue calico dress, black stockings and painted on black shoes. She has attached arms and legs so she sits easily. Her dress appears to have been on her a long time and it is soft and worn and does have holes. It is sewn on her at the neck. She feels like she could be stuffed with sand or something as heavy as sand. Her face is a old second covering and you can see some bumps on her face where there are eyebrows un...

True to the name this doll is rag stuffed simple and straight forward. Her body is two gingerbread shaped pieces of cloth, sewn together and firmly stuffed with rags. Her eyes are two old snaps sewn in place and they do the trick. Her legs have been bent so many times that she sits nicely. She has on the dress she came in. It is a soft worn red dress with with a ruffles down the front and around the neck and sleeves. She is 19" tall and is circa 1900. Something tells me that a child helped with ...

A very nice antique Punch as is Punch and Judy a famous puppet show in England. He has a leather face with painted features.(It could be oil cloth or painted fabric but it looks like leather to me.) His outfit is original and is weak and shredding in places. His face is all good other than the tip of his nose has a small break. He has attached arms and legs and is quite floppy in a nice way. He has an injured hand that someone dealt with by putting a sock over it and it seems to be working well....

This nice early cloth doll has one of the best ink and water color painted face that I have had. She has a nice round head, real hair and sweet little applied ears. She feels like she is stuffed with cotton and rags. Her brown socks continue up to her waist and they are sewn on but her legs and arms feel attached rather than continuous. She has on a wonderful age appropriate wool print dress. There are several big hole in it but it is a lined top so it isn't very obvious. She is 22" tall and cir...

Really nice early pantry box with a label on the lid and on the front. Both labels read Raisins and it written in nice old sepia ink. The box in in fine crisp condition with nice old patina, mellow honey brown color and hand made nails. The box has a Shaker quality to it but the world made these boxes also so I can't say for sure that it is. It is 8 1/4" across the top and 4 1/4" tall and is circa 1830-40. This is a top notch pantry box.

Rarely do I get a 19th C. cloth doll that has a drawn or embroidered face that is smiling. It has puzzled me because I think if I were making a doll for my child I would make it smiling. Then I started thinking about bisque and china dolls and most of their faces are neutral or pensive but no big smiles. Interesting! So there you have it. This cloth doll as a broad smile drawn in blue ink as well as a line for her nose and round eyes. She has been carefully and delicately mended down the midd...

If I were a little girl right now this is the doll that I would want as a best friend. She has an open happy face. It says I am kind and easy going and like to play nicely, no rough and tumble Tom boy here. She is 22" tall, stuffed with cotton just firm enough to feel good. She is all hand sewn linen with attached arms and legs as well as jointed elbows and knees with two lines of stitching across so they really bend nicely...see picture. She has on a 19th C. dress that fits her perfectly. She h...

This doll has a regal look and feel about her. Her body is black sateen and is very nicely constructed. The embroidered face is very nicely done with the whites of her eye very prominent with a nice black border around the white. Her nose is embroidered with black also but it is a blue black so it is visible. She has astrakhan hair that is nicely sewn on. She is stuffed fairly firmly with cotton and maybe rags. She is 23" tall and is dressed as I bought her. The dress is age appropriate and her ...

Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn, The sheep’s in the meadow, the cow’s in the corn. Where is the boy who looks after the sheep? He’s under the haystack, fast asleep. This is an uncut pattern for making a doll, Little Boy Blue. It is late 19th C. It is in very good unused condition but does have some age toning. The colors are crisp as is the fabric. It has been folded and put away for most if not all of its life. I show the front and the back. It would be lovely framed or actually mad...

Plain and simple with several layers of bonnets sewn on, and calico and scalloped fabric wrapped around her shoulders and a lace cape and a wool skirt with holes and then a really nice brown calico skirt. I have owned this doll for some time. She has a rag stuffed stump body and head. She is 8" bottom to top of stump and 10" with her skirt on. Her face is embroidered with a straight tight little mouth, stitched nose and eyes that are embroidered with a dark thread. Her inner bonnet is red and at...

Ruby is powerful looking with a wonderful shaped face and nose and chin. Her face is drawn with sepia ink. Her hair is also done with ink. The same ink and the same era in script is the name Ruby on the middle of her back. See picture. Her head is large and I have had a number of dolls with this shaped head both black and white cloth dolls. It makes me think that maybe this type of doll was shown in women's magazines in the 1880's with patterns and directions on how to make them. She has a very ...

Every now and then I come across a real homemade rag doll with all hand sewing, several layers of faces, wrapped upper body with a brown striped thin ticking fabric, (I am not sure why because she doesn't look as if anything is damaged) sewn on bloomers, great old socks and tan and red calico dress that fits perfectly and a tan quilted bonnet. She as two other layers under her linen face that may have faces but I have not tried to look, I like her the way she is. She stands 20" tall and sits wit...

Someone with a sense of humor gave this dear old flannel sheep blue floss eyes and brown eye lashes all the way around. She is big, 10" long including his tail and 6" tall even with her legs askew. Poor design or bad eating habits preventing her from standing on all fours. She has a great smile on her face and floppy ears with finishing stitches around the edges. She is a very sweet old gently played with late 19th C. toy lamb.
