This 1880 cloth doll has a very nicely drawn ink face with strong features softened by time. Her lips have a trace of red with a hint of a smile, her eyes are big and brown and her nose and eyebrows are a gray black this all adds up to a very kindly looking face. The black hat covers a trauma to her head and to her right ear. The rest of her face is not fragile so I think it was a blow to the head and ear not a breakdown of fabric...

Wearing an old red calico dress with blue checked apron, this tired little lady is resting her weary bones. Her cotton stuffed body is all original, the right side of her face has some over paint of pinkish white that is a very old over paint, it doesn't fluoresce, but it doesn't seem to be hiding anything either. a secrets that I guess she isn't willing to give up. She has jointed shoulders, elbows, hips and knees allowing her to sit and look good...

No mistaking this boy doll as a girl. Again great ears and behold the eyes. Did the mother making this doll know and want this look or did it just happen in the making. He is precious. His face is sepia ink on fine linen. His face is a second face but really old. It would be easy enough to take it off but I would never touch it, he is too good to mess with. He is hand sewn, is stuffed fairly firmly with cotton, he is jointed at elbows, shoulders, hips and knees...

This fine black doll is in wonderful condition. Her face is embroidered and her eyes are jet buttons that are very effective and her hair is astrakhan (lambs wool used for trim on coats in the late 1800's). Her arms are attached at her shoulders, her legs are continuous but she sits easily. She is wearing an early black skirt, a black calico dress over the skirt, and then a red apron/skirt over the dress...

I know that look, it says, I know what you are thinking and you better not say it! I wonder if she knows that I was going to comment on her hair-do? She is hand sewn and has a linen face and body that is cotton stuffed. Her dress looks like it has been on her forever. She has red high top shoes that are sewn on, nice under clothes and real hair that might be original. Her face has a very straight pinched nose, one long of red floss stitch for her mouth and pencil drawn eyes and eyebrows...

This is a nice antique cloth doll with a sweet embroidered face. She has blue eyes with eyelashes all the way around and pink floss mouth. It is a surprise that her face does not show any anger or humiliation from the extreme hairdo. I can just see the little girl with her mother's pointy scissors clipping all her hair with great satisfaction. She was a blond and there is a small fringe that frames her face and then rows of stitches on the back of her head that at one time was securing yarn hair...

All hand sewn from the nicest of material, this topsy turvy has style and detail sewing. Both faces are painted, the black face is on egg wash cotton and the white side is on fine linen. She doesn't show signs that she was played with much if at all. Their hands are mitten shape and out of the same material as their faces. There is a little water staining at the bottom of the blue polka dot skirt and her net bonnet is shredding at the top...

Old, worn, hand sewn, holey, patched, replaced arm, and simply wonderful package. She is heavy rag stuffed, has an old curvy body and is wearing a very early handsewn dress that is sewn on. Her animal friend is hand sewn, stuffed sort of firmly, has funny 2nd generation ears and little black floss stitches for eyes. It doesn't need to be complicated to be great. Sometimes a doll can be appreciated for the marvel of the maker and the caretakers of a doll. She has had loving hands restore her body more than once with really skilled hands. Her body is fashioned like a leather body but there is no leather under this doll's layers of jersey, cotton, linen and maybe a little wool. Her body is so interesting that she would look good exhibited without clothes. She is very firmly stuffed with rags...

This tiny bisque fully jointed doll just 2" long has a beautiful little painted face with bright blue eyes, rosy cheeks, blond hair and even blond eyebrows. She is covered with a tan satin with an embroidered edge done in yellow floss. She is a needle keep with a pincushion at the end that acts like a pillow for her when it is folded up. This is a tiny wooden doll wearing her original clothes. She has on a golden brown silk dress with blue trim. Under her dress she is wearing a fabulous woolen petticoat with a white petticoat under that. She has wooden arms and no legs. I don't feel any attachment under her skirt just the wooden body but she likely had legs. She has original paint still on her head and face. Her silk dress is shredding on the skirt front exposing the great petticoat but the trim of the dress still is around ...

This antique wooden doll is hand carved and still has some original paint. The face is nicely carved, the body is painted a dark green and the legs and face have a having a dark patina. The head has black painted hair. He has a big hole in his middle that I think was a hole for a jigger pole. He/she I think was a doll first and then a jigger but I can't say for sure. This is a wonderful wooden Native American doll with original clothing. He is pretty much untouched. He may have had a jacket or vest but I don't see any signs of that. His head is removeable but looks completely original. He is hand sewn clothes, has bead work around his sleeves but nowhere else. This is a very interesting doll. Her body and head are one piece of solid wood, with a hole straight through the shoulder from side to side with arms pushed in an anchored on either side. The legs, I am not sure how they are attached and the pants over her legs are sewn on and have been for a long time, see stains from the wood on the white tightly woven pants, they feel very secure. Here is a very nice all original wooden doll that is 15" tall. She has a great painted face, jointed arms and legs, original clothes I think but at least they were made for her and they are early. Under her dress she has a wool petticoat and the a cotton one and then another cotton one and the pantaloons. She is wearing a matching bonnet. Condition is great. Folky hand made antique paper doll dresses about 6" tall. (They didn't come with a doll.) They are made with fancy paper and glue. I show the backs of the dresses and the fronts. There are four dresses, two jackets, one hat and one apron. They are the last quarter of the 1800's. I there are two dress that have partial tears on a arm. They are from the last quarter of the 1800's. Condition is used and scuffed and played with.
