All hand sewn from the nicest of material, this topsy turvy has style and detail sewing. Both faces are painted, the black face is on egg wash cotton and the white side is on fine linen. She doesn't show signs that she was played with much if at all. Their hands are mitten shape and out of the same material as their faces. There is a little water staining at the bottom of the blue polka dot skirt and her net bonnet is shredding at the top...

This little girl, 15", is all hand sewn, with a chunky cotton stuffed body, jointed arms and legs, embroidered face and button eyes, set a bit askew. She is wearing a little later homemade red and black polka dot dress. There is no evidence that she ever had hair. She has mitten shaped hands with nice thumbs. Over her dress she has a a white hand knit sweater. She has a few holes here and there but nothing that is causing a problem...

Maybe I shouldn't think about it. So without thinking, she is super wonderful, with a elongated head, stitched onto an equally old body, BIG arms and hands, great old body and legs terminating with old nicely worn high button shoes. Still not thinking, her head has water color painted features on very fine old linen, her body is a twill and her arms and hands a little heavier linen fabric with stitch defined fingers and separate thumbs. She is stuffed very firmly with cotton...

She is 16" tall, dressed for the coldest of weather, her Mommy made sure she would be warm and now she looks lost. She is almost as wide as she is tall. The clothes are all original, the coat is nicely made and completely lined. Under the coat is a brown dress with a woven in pattern and undies to match. Her eyes are shoe buttons and her nose and mouth are one stitch each that are pulled in...

A 19th C. bisque head cloth body doll that is a squeak toy. I have never had one before. The squeak of course does not work, how many times do you suppose it squeaked before it stopped and the child was devastated the mother was thrilled. She has her original dress and then early blue calico apron and bonnet. Her face is bisque and she has blue glass eyes that are almost startling. She has a cloth body with a thin piece of wood that is about 1" by 2" inside here that was the squeaker...

This is a very nice example of a black cloth broom doll. I don't get these very often and this one has the best face. The embroidery is densely stitched and she is quite early. She is wearing a blue calico dress that is faded and shows wear. There is a mend on her skirt that is crude but works. The top layer of black stockinette has weakness and some holes. Isn't he the cutest! He stands 10" tall, has a velvet face, googly eyes and looks to be all original. He has velvet face and the same velvet for his hands and for the top of his boots. He stands when leaning against something and doesn't sit. His arms move easily but his legs are rigid. He is stuffed with something that is hard as a rock but I needle goes in easily so it isn't wood but it feels that hard. His body, arms and legs are mohair. He is in very good condition, life has been kind to him...

Wonderful and unusual leather black doll that is cuddly to hold. Even though she only has a blouse and skirt and pantaloons that are all sewn on, her body is stuffed with cotton with just the right amount to make her feel like there are layers and layers of clothes. Not often do I get a doll that has documentation of the maker, this doll does. She is all original with a red calico dress and bandana, white apron, petticoat and bloomers. Her body and legs are made of wood and she has big flat shoes that probably allowed her to stand alone but she is old now and doesn't do that well. I am trying not to relate to that! Not many cloth dolls have bold embroidered faces but this little girls has a humdinger. Blue eyes with black outline and black lower lashes and then big bold eyebrows, a U nose and oval red mouth. She has blond soft floss hair that is a work of art. She is firmly stuffed with something crunchy. She is wearing a nicely embroidered slip and pantaloons and a brown and blue flannel skirt. She is 12" tall, all hand sewn and is circa 1910-1920

This is a very nice black cloth doll from Maine. She has a blank face and doesn't look like she every had features. Her hair is mohair but most of the hair is gone, although some still is remaining in the front. She is a nice brown cotton broadcloth. She is wearing soft blue calico dress with matching calico pink fabric trim. She is cotton stuffed and rather firmly packed. Her arms and legs are jointed so she sits nicely. She is 18" tall and is circa 1910.

Here are two very small Civil War dresses measuring just 20". They are all hand sewn, the fabric is wool and silk I think, and as fine and thin as tissue paper. It is amazing that even though the have been worn and have a couple little mends, they look almost new. The fabric is strong with no shredding or signs of wear. They look wonderful hanging. C. 1860's.

This sweet little antique cloth doll is wearing black calico dress that might be original it fits her so well. She has embroidered eyes and a hint that she had an embroidered nose and probably a mouth. She has the great astrakhan hair that says she was made around 1890 and the dress is that era too. She has jointed arms and legs, is stuffed with cotton sort of medium firm. She is a very nice old but nicely cared for antique cloth doll. 10" tall.

What was the mother thinking when she sewed the face of this big wonderful rag stuffed doll. I think she had the cloth in her lap and stitched away on the face with it sideways on her lap. It does look a little straighter when she is sideways. Well you can't have her displayed on her side so her face is what it is, sweet and a little outrageous. The stitching is lovely and the colors are soft, her smile is engaging. She has never had hair. Her body is curvy with smaller waist and quite wide hips...

A very nice Babyland Rag doll with a softly faded face that gives her a sweet baby face. She is 21" tall. I have taken a picture of most of her body but the very top and her arms are not accessible. Whoever put on her dress has lots of determination. The cuffs on the sleeves are so tight I can't get it off without cutting it off. He is big, rag stuffed heavy, and is in really good condition. His face is expertly embroidered and the maker has given him golden brown eyes and hair to match. His chunky body is wearing the cutest pair of jeans and a white shirt with a big wide blue collar and cuffs. He is jointed at hips and shoulders do sitting is not problem, unless you think he could use a little more exercise. He is 22" tall and big and heavy. C.1890 Something new, make an offer.

She is 14" tall with a cute little figure and is living life with her eyes wide open, with the help of jet buttons. The mother that made this was no shrinking violet. I bet she put on some great birthday parties. She even painted on the boots. She is all hand sewn, has stitched defined fingers, pointy feet and a very nice shaped body. Her dress comes down below her feet a couple of inches. She is cotton stuffed rather firmly and is jointed shoulders and hips so sits nicely. She is circa 1900-192...

This is a large Gertrude Rollinson in really good condition with wonderful clothes. She probably has been repainted at some point. She has on a long white cotton dress with a slip that is the same length as the dress, well below her feet. She has on white socks and white shoes and a crocheted bonnet. She is in very good condition, is 26" tall and is circa 1907-1916.
