This doll is has a very nice painted face with contrast that is white, but I think the color might have been pink and faded. She has it on her cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. She has a pretty red mouth and dark blue eyes. She has real hair sewn to her head. She has on a full length camisole and a dress with bonnet to match. Her body is very heavy and stuffed or packed with sand. I have only had dolls with sand a few times. She has leather hands and long narrow feet...

This really pretty painted face doll has a unique palate off white, gray and black with big brown eyes. She has painted black hair. She has the center seam face that I like so much and ears. I love dolls with ears I think it gives them so much character. She has a nicely shaped body, she is firmly cotton stuffed. Her arms have lost the hands but she is jointed at the shoulder and her elbow so it is just the hands that are missing...

Boy dolls are just hard to find, fewer were made but when found they are more likely to have good clothes. Boys liked policeman, soldiers, construction workers and sailors. This great sailor is 21" tall, has a nicely embroidered face, is all hand sewn, has the four seam head and has really nice hands with fingers and thumbs. He is very firmly stuffed with cotton. His clothes fit him perfectly...

A very nice antique black cloth doll with a wonderful embroidered face. She has knotted wool hair pulled through heavy foundation fabric. Her head is round and very hard, her chest is very firm also. Her hips are wide but cotton stuffed as well as her legs. She is very interesting and I can't exactly tell how she was made but I think she is all original and has stockinette and fabric combined in her making. Her dress doesn't come off. She is 17" tall, she sits easily...

Surprisingly this is and always has been a bottle doll door stop. She is beautifully dressed with layers of clothes. She has flax hair, and ink drawn face with a bit of a startled look. She has on a black hat with great posies across the front. I have had a few white doll doorstops but this is by far the best. She is 15" tall and is circa 1890.

Pencil face cloth doll is 21” tall, with a big lollipop head that can nod back and forth just a little. She has a firmly packed body with attached arms and continuous legs that do bend for sitting a lot over the years. It is a bit of a forced sit. She has a curved body in at the waist and would at the hips and chest. She has black sock and red boot shoes that have been sewn on and I think are original. She is wearing an antique pair of pantaloons with an antique dress that fits her very well...

This big doll no nonsense painted face doll with kind eyes was made with a body and face that match. They are both strong looking, will withstand a lot and be a good companion for a little girl. She is the kindly auntie that can't be there all the time. She is stuffed firmly with rags with cotton stuffed arms and legs. The paint is more a water color than an oil paint. It is flat color and sinks into the fabric. Her lips are the only exception, they are painted with a bittersweet oil paint...

Wonderful and unusual leather black doll that is cuddly to hold. Even though she only has a blouse and skirt and pantaloons that are all sewn on, her body is stuffed with cotton with just the right amount to make her feel like there are layers and layers of clothes. This is a sweet faced little cloth doll with a pinched raised nose, button eyes, feather stitched eyebrows and pink floss mouth. I think she is one tough cookie. Very stern with a small little straight line for a mouth, long straight pinched nose and big button eyes outlined in red floss. She has astrakhan hair, a nice early shaped body, jointed at the shoulders and hips and packed firmly with cotton. The dress is sewn on and fits really well. This antique handsewn doll has the early sloped shoulders, with carefully pieced construction, finely embroidered face with pinched raised nose, detailed lips, eyes and eyebrows. This is a very nice 19th C. black cloth doll with strong embroidered face. She is as found and is wearing an antique plaid dress that is all hand sewn, with a very fine wool petticoat under it and knit bloomers. Her body is stockinette that is over black cotton lining and she is firmly stuffed with cotton. Her arms and legs and knees are jointed. A sweet little rag stuffed doll with a suggestion of a face. She has on aearly blue and white dress, not original but my guess it has been on her a long time. She is C. 1880-90 and 11" tall with the dress adding another inch or two.

This doll looks right. She is hand sewn, rag stuffed with some cotton stuffing, very big folky mitten hands and the best brown and red calico dress. She had lots of patina, (the very nice word for accumulation of dirt and soil over the years). She has on a flannel petticoat under her dress and a pair of bloomers on inside out. What a cutie of a simple rag doll with embroidered face, broad chest and arms that ends in little fists. Now I think he is a little boy but his blue striped pants have a little lace trim so maybe a little girl. I do know that the mother that made him wanted to make sure the hat stayed on or maybe she picked it up one too many times off the floor and sewed the sucker on! It worked it is still there.
