She has the nicest smile and the kindest eyes. I bet she could tell some heart warming stories. She is 24 1/2" tall and stuffed medium firm, all hand sewn, stitched defined finger and sits nicely even though she isn't jointed. She has on pantaloons, and a knit undershirt (a little out of character for the dress), and a beautiful period pink dress that fits her beautifully. The old hooks and eyes are a bit of an overkill, 9 of them from the neck to the waist. She is dressed for an outing and afte...

This is a very early all original utensil small carrier/knife box. It has its original orange varnish, tiny beautiful dovetails, tiny "t" nails, canted sides, heart cutout in center divider/ handle. The wood is almost paper thin and the carrier is light as a feather. It does have a few condition problems but they are visual not structural problems. There is an old crack on one side that radiates about a third of the way across the side horizontally and there is a crack from shrinkage on the bott...

It is always fun to find something I haven't seen before, this is a black man oilcloth doll. Oilcloth was a heavy duty cotton or linen cloth that was in the old days soaked in linseed oil until it became saturated. The cloth was then hung to dry to produce an almost waterproof fabric. It often was used to cover kitchen tables, line shelves AND was used to make children's soft toys that were durable and waterproof. This toy soldier dates to the late 1800's early 1900's. He is tall and wonderful a...

This is an amazing home made black boy doll with the sweetest face, the best posture and corn cob legs. He feels like he has a solid wood inner core. I bet the maker of this boy was pleased as punch to find a good use for a couple of old corn cobs. His face is finely embroidered and has a contoured brow and cheeks, a raised nose, jet bead eyes, embroidered eyebrows, whites of eyes, nose and mouth with teeth. He has raveled yarn hair that is wonderful and it really suits him. His hands are stit...

The strawberries are being sold as a lot, both for one price. They are 1 3.4" and 1 1/4".

Early little frozen Charlotte doll in a original red cradle. She is nestled under a brown and tan striped bunting type fabric and strapped in with a thin brown old cloth tape that holds her securely. The cradle is a paste board and the rockers are wood. The bellows is a kid skin leather. I think it is all original and it does not look messed with. I looks like the rockers have been glued back on with old fish glue but long ago. Two blue knobs are missing on opposing top corners of the cradle. Th...

This is a nice naïve painted face doll with pretty blue eyes, red lips and a suggestion of a nose. She has painted black hair with a red ribbon painted across the top of her head. She even has nicely painted eyelashes. She has the early hour glass body with small waist and broad chest and hips. Her body is all original, her arms are just rounded off for hands but they are painted with the same paint as her face. She is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees. Everything about this bonnet is great. Great fabric, great color, great condition and so pleasing to the eye. The iridescent fabric used in the bonnet is sort of a trade mark the Shakers achieved by using opposing colors for warp and weft. The bonnet is lined with a egg wash polished brown cotton. The bonnet is all hand sewn and has the original plaid ribbons and ties. There are no weak areas of tears or hole. There is a little white area that looks like white paint on the inside lining, see pic...

She is 21" tall, stuffed firmly with cotton, has no rips or tears. She has embroidered face with shoe button eyes. Her hair is wool and so nicely done. She has pantaloons, petticoat and dress that are all nice and are antique. The dress is actually red not orange and the bottom in polished cott...

Original green painted oval opposing fingered pantry box with very early nails and square pegs. The box rim has some loss on the front left edge but it doesn't show with the lid off. It is a sturdy medium weight box no other condition problems other than the wear on the green paint for use of 150 years. It is just under 6 1/2" by a little over 4 1/2 " wide by 2 1/2" high and is circa 1840 and is out of the same local house.

This very nice red and black challis dress with scoop neck and puffy sleeves is Civil War Era. It is all hand sewn, sleeves are lined and there is a wide brown cotton used as backing when the dress was lengthened as the child grew. The dress has mends and wear and a few areas of slight discoloration. I really like it with some evidence of use and age. The dress is a wonderful soft red and looks wonderful hanging, I like to hang antique dresses on backs of doors. The dress is 23" long and is 9"ar...

Joel Ellis dolls are fairly rare. Joel lived in Vermont and was an inventor and got a patent for this doll is 1873. She is made of rock maple with metal hands and feet. The paint was not very stable so usually they have some paint loss. This doll looks like the paint has been gone a long time and now has a wonderful patina that shows nicely with the spectacular brown and mustard calico dress that is about the age she is. She also has on a nice early petticoat. I believe she a replaced piece of m...
