This big cloth doll with a ink drawn/painted face has on a early brown calico dress with a complete set of antique underclothes. Her dress has lots of little holes and a few bigger holes all in the skirt not in the bodice of the dress. When she is sitting the folds hide the holes. Her body is completely hand sewn, is jointed at the hips and shoulders. She has a suggestion of hair painted on the back of her head and also has lots of pin holes that probably means at some point later in her life sh...

This is the old type cloth doll stuffed with rags, a great embroidered face, and clothes that have been on her for a very long time. When they are like this I don't take them off. They never quite look the same and it is a look I really appreciate when I see it. It is undisturbed. She is solid, she sits nicely and she has layers of clothes; pantaloons, two petticoats and the early rose colored calico dress and the white apron. She has the element of surprise on her face, great eyebrows! Her arms...

Here is a very nice all original wooden doll that is 15" tall. She has a great painted face, jointed arms and legs, original clothes I think but at least they were made for her and they are early. Under her dress she has a wool petticoat and the a cotton one and then another cotton one and the pantaloons. She is wearing a matching bonnet. Condition is great. Her dress has one ink spot on the skirt, she has a little loss of black paint on her head and like all of these dolls the joints are not gr...

I can't believe it, this is Miss Grant my first grade teacher. It has been a lot of years but I think this is her. She has great black fabric hair that feels sort of like mohair? It is sewn on really nicely and dented in to make it look like a part in her hair. Her face is pencil drawn with big circles for her eyes. She has a great pinched nose, and a bit of a raised chin. No real mouth but I can tell it is pursed lips, she always did! Her body was made by a real seamstress. The fabric used for ...

This really pretty painted face doll has a unique palate off white, gray and black with big brown eyes. She has painted black hair. She has the center seam face that I like so much and ears. I love dolls with ears I think it gives them so much character. She has a nicely shaped body, she is firmly cotton stuffed. Her arms have lost the hands but she is jointed at the shoulder and her elbow so it is just the hands that are missing. She is also jointed at the hips and knees and her feet are nicely...

You have go to be kidding, this adorable, kind of pathetic doll, came with a ribbon on her wrist that was for winning 1st place at the Sir Walter Raleigh Doll Club. Now I don't want to insult this dear little creature but someone is pulling a fast one on her. I am not telling her and the ribbon will stay with her but.... So that said she has some very nice attributes. She has a center seam face and little mop cap hat sewn on her head, and antique calico dress sewn on, a very heavy hour glass fi...

This early pencil face doll is what I call plain and simple. It is the type or doll I would see for sale in the 1970-80's. Somehow the fancier antique cloth dolls didn't appear until the 1990's and later. She has a simple drawn pencil face, no hair, a mitten hand with just the thumb separate and the little turned up foot. She sits easily and fits in with anything on a shelf or with a collection. She has on a very early blue calico dress that has some shredding on the bodice and on the back of th...

This doll has the best folky rectangular head. She has a nicely drawn pencil face with a kindly smile and the U shaped nose that comes directly from her eyebrows. Her body is all original and is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees. She comes as found and I think her clothes have been on a long time. I didn't take them off because the upper arms of the dress fit very tightly and I don't want to rip the dress getting it off and on. She has on back high top shoes, cream colored socks, an antiq...

Well I am not sure Mother Congress would recognize this doll unless she took off her dress. This doll has to have had many hundreds of hours of play. The dress is obviously not original but I am sure it is nicer than a lot of dresses she has worn. She is 18" tall, cotton stuffed, many stitches replaces but surprisingly no holes just a worn area at the tip of her right hand. She sure isn't a Sunday doll but she could use a few understanding friends! Circa 1900. To see a nice "Baby Stuart" Google...

This is a most unusual very appealing small doll very much the young lady, with a center seam face, applied ears and sewn on pelt hair. (Please look at the picture of the hair, I think it is deer pelt and is fashioned to look like arranged hair.) She has a drawn face with bead eyes. She is wearing a brown printed dress all hand sewn with a pocket on one side. She has on pantaloons, a slip, a petticoat, black socks and very worn leather doll shoes that are as early as she is. She is wearing the b...

This interesting cloth doll has a pencil face fashioned after a "Babyland" rag doll. The little girl receiving this doll must have been thrilled to have a doll looking like and expensive bought one. This face is a second face that has been there a long time. She has a sewn on bonnet that fringes her face. Her arms have been recovered at the same time her face was done, same material. She is cotton stuffed and sits nicely. Clothes old but not original. She is 19"tall and circa 1890-1900.

There is no doubt this doll has played a lot in her lifetime. She has a drawn face, brown homespun fabric hair, attached arms and legs and is firmly cotton stuffed. She is hand sewn and has one foot recovered and the other pieced a bit but now they are all the same color and barely show the repairs. Her brown calico dress is of the period but obvious that it is not her original. The original has to have gone in the rag bag many years ago. She is 13 1/2" tall. Rarely do you see a large doll that ...

It is not often that I get a nice quilted pillow case never mind that it has brown and blue calico fabric. It is all hand sewn and the fabrics are 1870's. It is a size that fits regular bed pillow. I used a fairly large puffy pillow and it still worked well. There are a few penny sized spots that have started to fray a little but it would be fine on a guest bed or stuck in a comfy easy chair. It is 22" by 15". (Bed pillow doesn't come with it.)

This is a spectacular example of a poured wax over composition face doll. She is English or French or German but such a fine example with what probably is original clothes. She dates to the 1840-60's. She has a leather body, one knee is kinked but other than that I don't see any problems. She has her original blond wig, a great hat that came with her and looks like it could be original and the wonderful silk gown that is shredding a little but is mostly stable. I think her beauty and her clothin...

This boy is just the best! He is broad shouldered, strong thick body, jointed arms and legs, velvet black hair and killer eyes! He is in his original clothes and it takes a lot for me to feel that clothes on a doll are original but I feel strongly that these are. He has wonderful sewn on leather shoes. This is again the question that haunts me, how do shoes on antique dolls get so worn. Do they have a life we don't know about? How does one shoe get so worn it has a hole in the side and the botto...

This very dear pensive blue ink drawn face doll is the quiet one. She is comforting and soft, her dress is a soft gray blue, her apron is old windowpane fabric with a touch of lace. She has a nice old onesie on underneath. There is nothing spectacular about her she is just nice. Sometimes we could all use a little bit of nice. She is cotton stuffed has a hole in the toe of one foot other than that there is not much to know. She is hand sewn and even though she is not jointed she sits nicely. Ci...

A funny little flannel toy mouse, but some of my family think it is a rabbit. It does sort of have a tail like a rabbit but the face is a mouse! That said I guess it can be either and he is so cute I don't think it matters. He does have some wear and he is not quite as white as the pictures, he has a brown tint from age. He is 3" long and is circa 1900 and all hand made. P.S. Pot metal chamber stick small table top size $45 adorable on a little table or desk. Circa 1880

A very nice great blue Hannah Davis hat box with original label. The NH wallpaper lining the interior is dated 1836 and has articles about towns close by to Jaffrey NH where Hannah Davis lived and made her hat boxes from the 1820's to 1850's. This one is the best blue, has normal scuffing and has two areas that are missing some wallpaper but they are on just one side, see photos. The box is just 12 1/2" so it is a perfect size to be displayed anywhere. The label is on the inside lid of box cover...
