I love bodies made with mattress and pillow ticking, and when it is brown ticking it is even better. I think this was meant to have a china or bisque head aand I don't think that ever happened. I do not see any area that looks like a head was attached other than this old linen pencil face head. The head sort of landed on the body if you know what I mean, it doesn't really look like it belongs but the doll probably wore a dress for most of her life and the body never showed. I like the body better than I like the head so I haven't ever put clothes on her but there is nothing wrong with dressing her. She is 16" tall, her body is stuffed very firmly and her head almost as firmly. She is circa 1890 and very nice.
