This is a doll that says pick me up and carry me around. She has a great naive ink drawn face, has a suggestion of hair with ink lines around her face looking like bangs. I think she wore a bonnet or hat for a while as her head is a little lighter than her face. She has rounded off arms with ink lines for fingers and black stockings sewn on with red embroidery resembling shoe laces. It is a very good and easy way to make her look like she is wearing shoes. She is stuffed with cotton, rather firmly, has jointed shoulders and hips so she sits nicely. Her dress suits her although it is not original and hangs down about 2" below her feet. She is a comfort sort of doll, her dress is soft as is the easy way her arms and legs hang limply. She is 13" tall, and is circa 1880.
