Great blue calico rolled stump doll with a drawn face and the best wiggley line painted hair. The face has a lot of age darkening but you can see the eyebrows loop down for the nose and back up over the other eye in one coninuous line. The body is a really hard core rolled blue calico fabric that goes from the top of the head to the bottom of the trunk. She never had legs. The petticoat or skirt comes to the bottom of the stump. Her arms are rolled also and go across her chest and down the other side. It solved a problem of losing an arm. It is a wonder that dolls like this survive. I suspect many a mother picked this doll up and said to herself, scrap bag or storage trunk. She is 11" tall, and is wearing a very worn hand sewn dress from the same period 1860-70 that is appropriate and really nice but probably not original to her. Circa 1860-70
