This little stockinette girl is a nice example of a country doll made by a mother that had basic experience and did a very nice job of making a modest black doll. Her body is a sock with simple arms and legs. Her face is a little more elaborate with a raised stuffed nose and embroidered eyes, eyebrows and mouth. The red floss for her mouth has just a hint of red left. Her hair is the astrakhan trim from the 1880's that is in really good condition. She is a very nice little black cloth doll. 13" tall and circa 1880. Her dress is as old as she is and is a linen and wool combination. The color of the dress is the same as the first photo, tan and brown, not bright yellow.
