This doll has been loved and cared for over the years. She started out with a pencil drawn face and then sepia ink was used to enhance her, by a child no doubt! She is firmly stuffed with cotton, she has mitten hands, her feet are nicely shaped and both point left, as in I am turning left at any minute. The bottom part of her arms and legs are recovered with almost identical fabric to freshen her up. This wasn't done recently and it feels like the mitten hands and the turned feet are all in tact. I sometime take the covering off but I think there is enough look of age that I have left them on. She has on a red/pink dress with brown trim and a sweet little pocket. The bonnet is really nice and earlier than she is, (1860-70). It is dark brown silk with hand quilting and a bow at the back and is trimmed in the same color as the dress, a rosy red. They are the clothes that she came with and look to have been with her a long while. This doll sits nicely. She is a small presenting doll for all of her 18" tall. She sits nicely and is circa 1890
