A very nice and unique bottle doll with her head built around a cork so the top lifts off easily and the bottle can be used to store whatever. I have another bottle doll listed with the same idea and that one had a story with it. This is the story on the other bottle doll, (I bought the bottle doll from a picker and he was door knocking and it turns out a man had recently lost his wife and yes he did have things for sale and one item was a black bottle doll doorstop. He said his wife used to like a little drink now and then and he didn't approve. For years he tried to find where she hid her sherry. After she passed he picked up the door stop and the head lifted off and don't you know there it was the bottle of sherry!)… Now I don't know the history of this one but it sure would have made a good hiding place.
This doll is 13" tall and has a very nice painted face. She has a sewn on bonnet that matches her dress, she has on brass earrings and her flowered dress and white apron. She is made on an old milk bottle that is original to her and the head and cork fit perfectly. This is a very unique and nice bottle doll. There is no evidence that the bottle was ever covered. She is all original and circa 1920
