This terrific late 1800's hand sewn black doll is about as straight forward as you will find. The embroidered face is really nicely done with the stitched mouth slightly turned down. I think of him as a boy but it could easily be a girl. I bought this doll years ago and there were no clothes. I have tried this and that but I like it just as it is without clothes. I think this doll makes a statement without adornment. He is 16" tall and stuffed firmly with rags. He is circa 1890, all hand sewn and is very folky
