She can get better, she has a provenance that came with her, as follows... [Mammy-19 1/2" black cloth doll with black yarn hair All original in white dress, apron, undies, and multi-colored bandana on head; black stockings complete her outfit. This doll was given to Elisabeth Holder, a lifetime member of Piedmont Doll Club, when she was five years old from her father wo had purchased the doll in 1918 in Charleston, SC. She is now as she was then after many clothes washings and much loving. A treasured doll by her first owner and now by her second owner.] She has a embroidered face, big eyes, two dots for a nose and a hint of a smile on her slightly turned up lips. For her eyebrows there is one straight bushy line across her forehead that makes a great statement. She has a rim of yarn hair that frames her face as the bandana covers the rest of her head. She is cotton stuff quite firmly packed, her arms and legs are jointed, she has separate thumbs and stitch defined fingers. Her white apron has a pocket, I always like that. I do think she has replaced undies that are pink and the petticoat/slip doesn't meet at the back. There is one repair on the side of her face. I didn't even know it was there until jus now. It is a mend where an ear would be if she had one. This is an outstanding black cloth doll. C.1918 and 19" tall
