I like the look of the doll. She has strong kindly features with a certain nonsense attitude. Her face is
ink drawn by a skilled and steady hand. She is rock solid and heavy maybe even stuffed with sand.
she has a brown twill fabric for her face and front of her body and a wonderful old brown ticking for the back. Both fabrics are very sturdy and certainly could hold sand. Other than a mend to one arm, she is in good shape. Her yellow and red calico dress has mends and some holes but the dress came with her and it looks and feels like it have been on her a long time. She is a lovely example of a 1890 black doll made to be played with. She is 19" tall and is C 1890
