I love dolls like this. They conjure up a whole story of hot summer days, dusty well packed earth, a big maple tree at the corner of the open porch that stretches across the front of the house. A little girl in a worn calico dress, no shoes and scratched little legs holding her doll sitting on the steps staring out in space on a hot summers day.
(It isn't hard for me to take a little mini vacation inside of my head does it.)
So the note attached to her says she was from the Jimmie Cramer collection. She is 20" tall with a very big out of proportion folky head. She is missing one arm, she has sewn on undies that are no nonsense and she is all hand sewn. The pencil face is faint with lots of age related staining. I like to call it nice patina. (smiling) She is wearing a striped blue and yellow dress that has a big hole in the back that has been crudely mended but it does the job. She is a great relic from the past. She is circa 1880-90
