I really like it when I get a doll that really looks and feels all original and this is one of them. She has a lovely contoured face with button eyes, a form raised nose and an embroidered mouth. She has a formed forehead, cheeks and chin. She was represented as being a poor mans black Beecher doll and I think that is true. She has very nice astrakhan hair. Her clothes appear to be all original. Her dress is red cotton with lace trim with a white lace apron. She is wearing two necklaces with a brooch and a pin around her neck and at the top of her dress. Around her waist is a sweet bead bracelet out of seed beads. She has jointed arms and legs. She sits nicely. She is stuffed very firmly and her head and neck are very rigid, no flopping head here. Her clothes are sewn on and I feel her slip and pantaloons are all original also. Her hands are sort of stitch defined. She is wearing black stockings that are sewn on. She is a real beauty right out of Maine collection. Circa 1890 and 20" tall.
