This doll is something else. I thought about trimming the hanging pieces off her skirt but she is what she is and I think cutting them off was not going to kid anyone as to her state of disarray, (that is being kind). She has layers of clothes sagging black socks. Her body is all original and clean under the clothing but she has had this on for quite a while. Her head scarf is the same material as her dress, a pink calico but there is hardy any print on the scarf. I thought it was white until I looked very closely. It has been washed a lot. I am pretty sure she had a face but no sign of anything now. No holes or damage to her body and it is the slip and skirt that are shredding, the pink calico dress is okay but not long enough to be used alone.
She is a standing doll and she does stand if she is leaning against something. I wouldn't call her a National Treasure but I am very fond of her. Just look at those hands! 20" and circa 1890
