This wonderful black doll has a look of eagerness, she is ready to go just name the adventure. She has button eyes with embroidery around them, a raised nose with part of the fabric worn off, an embroidered mouth that has just a touch of a turn up at the corners. On her chin is a repair, see picture. Her head is round and firm her hair is exquisite, see picture, with a bun and a woven in flower. She is constructed with black sateen fabric over blue ticking, see picture of arm. She may have been a white doll before she was made black, not unusual for antique black dolls. She has on a make-do dress that is nicely done and her clothes look like they have been on her a long time. She has make-do leather shoes. She is 19" tall, very firm and heavy great African American black doll. Circa 1880.
