This is a beautiful painted face 23” cloth doll, nice early body and all early clothes. The dress has been altered professionally to fit her. She has a crack on her neck that has been sewn and then covered with the brown calico fabric strip to cover the stitches. She has a replace arm that is old and works well. She is signed in old ink, Ella, I imagine it is the dolls name and then a little bit newer lettering Judy Bill and then in even newer lettering on the front, Miriam…kind of cool. ...

Amish doll...remains calm in a topsyturvy world. She is earing lots of cloths, early and nice. She is wearing an early bonnet that is a soft gray green, a black cape, a salmon colored apron over a navy blue dress. Under her dress is a plain white petticoat and then brown pants, (for the cold weather no doubt). I think her head was recovered a long time ago so there is probably another blank face underneath. She is 16" tall and circa 1900 or a little earlier.

This is a Maud Witherspoon doll made in New Orleans in the 1890-1907 in a small cottage industry. The faces were painted by different women so the dolls vary in their looks but all are stylistic and recognized easily. This one have a very nicely painted face. This little guy is all original and has so much detail with a sculptured face, raised nose, eyebrows and beard with a hint of a mouth. His hair is very fine ravaled thread. His jeans have back pockets, his leather shoes were made for him and socks are the best...see picture. He is a standup doll but he can be bent to a semi sit. Even coffee pots can be beautiful when they were made by a Shaker. The handle has a lid stop bump, the inside of the handle has a round reinforcement for strength and comfort, the spot is on the side so you can see where you are pouring and the lighthouse effect with the tapering sides. I know it is just a tin coffee pot, 150 years old but the Shakers really did have the art of hands to work and heart to God.

These lovely linen travel rolls were made and sold in Maine and NH by the Shakers. They are made with natural linen and have red trim. During the winters the sisters embroidered them . I have owned a few of them and they are all different but great. This is a travel roll-up and so pretty to look at. It is 22" by 12". It does have a hole on the front, see pictures. Circal 1890

It was one slight stain on the bottom front left edge. It looks like someone with a little powder put their thumb down. It is a great Shaker doll cloak circa 1890

This early Shaker sieve has a design in the horsehair woven mesh. The sieve has wooden pegs all around the edge and the lap is nailed. The rims on top and bottom are a little rough from use and the strainer has two areas at the edges that have weakened, see pictures. This is early and very nice and displays easily hanging on a peg or nail. It is 13 1/2" 4" high. C. 1830
