This little stump doll with embroidered face and hand spun brown yarn for hair is really dear. She is wearing a brown velvet jacket and a brown plaid skirt with many layers underneath. Her head is very firm but it gets a little softer as you get to her waist and then the fabric is free fall. She is 11" not counting her felt brown hat. She is speckled with little black spots that may be meant as freckles. She is a little gem. Circa 1880

This tall lollipop head pencil face doll has lots to tell. One look at her body tells you many hands have fixed her up. She has one replaced arm, patches and holes on her legs and feet. She has the tiniest of a waist and the biggest of the hips that I have seen. She is nice and early and is all hand sewn. Her pantaloons have been on her so long they look like her body. Her dress is all hand sewn and in tatters here and there. She has a face on either side of her head and she has feet that turn i...

A great folky little black doll with button eyes, embroidered red floss mouth with white stitched teeth and did have a pinched stitched nose but it has come undone. She has a very shapely body and legs, is very firmly stuffed with cotton, has jointed arms and legs so she sits easily. Her clothes are sewn on and I do think they are original. She is all hand sewn and has a lot of personality. She is a very good example of an early small black cloth doll. Circa 1890 and 14"

Five early paper dolls dressed in crepe paper dresses. When I bought them I was told they were made to hang on the Christmas tree and it is true some of the have thread hangers on the back. They are very nice and unusual. They range in size from 7 1/2" to about 10" and date to the 1880's.

This little cat is from the 1910-20 that is made from feed sack material and sewn by a child or by a motivated but not so talented mother. The pattern of the fabric was used such that it is a sweet ruffle affect. The buttons are funny with blue ones for eyes and a white shoe button for a nose and the ribbon and bell are as faded as everything else. This is a real antique cat stuffed with cotton, cardboard for the base and it served for a really good toy and a great look. 7 /2 " tall

Dressed in a blue calico dress this sweet little stump rag doll has a lot going for her. She has an ink drawn face, a lollipop head, and a body that flares out but stops at the hips and never had legs. If I was a mother back in the 19th C. I would have been mighty pleased with myself that I thought up the stump doll concept. It really works, and makes for a very nice doll. She is rag stuffed, has dainty little arms, and a nice blue calico striped dress. The dress has a hole in the back and it co...

Two antique bunny rabbits, one is a paper mache candy container and the other is a fury rabbit with moveable arms and legs and a wire that may have attached him to a basket or it stabilizes her to stand. They both are a little under 5" tall and show their age a bit. They are both as cute as can be.

A wonderful character cloth doll that just might be one of the earliest selfies. I can imagine a grandmother making a doll in her likeness to give to a child that is not living close by but loves her Grammy. This doll has a face created by using same color thread and string to sew on the face for knotted string eyes, applied nose and a golden floss for her mouth. She is made with a heavy cotton homespun and is stuffed with a grain. She is very heavy. She has a stick from the top of her head that...

Two antique pieces of blue and white fabric. The top one is homespun and is the top to a feather tick. It has been washed so many times that it is very thin and soft and is seamed down the middle. This piece is 56" by 67" and it is $185.00 The second piece is blue and white cotton and some people would call it homespun but I believe it is early mill work. It is a full tick so it has a back and a front both are blue and white and it has lots of patches of varying ages. These feather ticks were o...

A wonderful plain and simple antique black doll doorstop. This one is smaller than most and is made with a weighted can rather than a bottle. She is 10" tall and is just the right size to sit on a shelf or be used as a bookend. I like it when the stocking shows nice wear on the bottom and this one really does. See photo. She is great folk art! Circa 1920

Her neck is a little floppy but still stays upright. Her face has painted features that are worn but still visible. She is just 10" tall and is circa 1890. She is a great little all original doll.

A very early black cloth doll all hand sewn with a strong beautiful embroidered face. She is constructed with a tan fabric with black heavy silk over it. She is cotton stuffed very firmly with a exaggerated hour glass figure and the early slopping shoulders. Her hair is unraveled very fine wool. She came with just a covering from the waist down and I have put on the blouse and skirt. The beads are old and were on her. She is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees. Her condition has little to t...

Antique flannel dog filled with grain or sawdust that makes him feel like a bean bag and allows him to stand nicely. He has big bead eyes and replaced floppy ears. The original ears must have been further back where you see a white patch. That patch is white flannel that hasn't gotten dirty. He has a couple of mends but is old and nice and has a bit of a worried look. He is 7 1/2" long and 6" tall. (His ears are a wool knit fabric that looks like they have been there for a while.) Hi is 19th C. ...
