I know that look, it says, I know what you are thinking and you better not say it! I wonder if she knows that I was going to comment on her hair-do? She is hand sewn and has a linen face and body that is cotton stuffed. Her dress looks like it has been on her forever. She has red high top shoes that are sewn on, nice under clothes and real hair that might be original. Her face has a very straight pinched nose, one long of red floss stitch for her mouth and pencil drawn eyes and eyebrows. She is...

This little girl has fun and has just met the other one so we will see if they turn out to be good friends. She is heavy and old and is as found with a little rec calico dress, tan undies, tan socks and wool shoes missing the soles. (Odd and I have no idea what could have happened to them.) She has great lambs wool hair. The white that you see is part of the tanned leather. She has button eyes, (the thickest buttons I have ever seen.), applied nose and applied lips with embroidered teeth. She h...

She is firmly packed with rags and cotton, how can I tell, she is very heavy and doesn't give much when you squeeze her. Rags are dense and heavy, cotton is lighter and can be pushed more easily into small places like arm and legs and feet and gives more when compressed. She has a great pencil face with eyes way at the top of her face. She is old and played with and her dress reflects all of that, see pictures for shredding material. Her body is all original and her dress is old and came with he...

At first glance she looks like one to me but a southern belle all dressed up in the 1880's would not ever consider putting forth anything resembling a scowl. To give her the benefit of the doubt it is more of a pensive look. Her bright blue eyes would sparkle with a smile but she is what she is. Her face is watercolor and ink and nicely done. She is 22" tall her body is all original with continuous legs so she has a forced sit, see photos. She is wearing a pink and white calico print dress and a...

This doll has a very early body and was recovered from the waist up in the late 1800's. She feels like she has another face under this one but this has been on there so long I wouldn't want to take it off. She has layers of petticoats and then bloomers all under her blue and white period dress. She is heavy and stuffed with rags and maybe some cotton. She has a pencil face with shoe button eyes. She doesn't look like she ever had hair. She is fully jointed and sits great. Her hands have fingers ...

I am telling my age but this doll would be the best at using the mangle. She has the shoulders of a football player and her arms are mightly long. (For all of you younger than I), A mangle or wringer is a mechanical laundry aid consisting of two rollers in a sturdy frame, connected by cogs and, in its home version, powered by a hand crank or electricity. Wikipedia) My mother had the electrical kind and my younger brother put his finger in it and peeled the skin off half his finger. It was fair...

This doll is the first kind of cloth dolls that started to come to market in the 1970's. There were not many cloth dolls in shops or at shows but when I found them they were sort of like this. Simple and straight forward. She has the early hour glass figure and adding to that look is a serious leather corset that was probably made from the top of an old shoe. She is hand sewn, cotton stuffed rather firmly, nicely shaped feet, one nice leather shoe over black stockings. Her arms stop abrubtly at ...

Sometimes a little doll like this talks to you. She has a darling embroidered face with little stitches for eyes and mouth and teeth but then a simple triangle for a nose. She has a few holes in her face but mostly the first layer is still there. The black dye in the stockinette material has iron oxide that carrodes the fabric over time. It isn't because these dolls were disregarded, age alone does it and it is something that happens in a lot of these wonderful old dolls and they become part of ...

I bet you have heard that saying before. By the looks of this doll the advise was taken. She has an all original linen head and body, embroidered face abd a raised nose with overlapping floss stitches. She doesn't appear to have ever had hair. She has jointed arms and legs, stuffed with cotton with a medium firm feel. Even though she has a long neck there is no flopping at all. She has the dress she came in that has some fading, a flannel petticoat and then a skirt that may be original to her. H...

Great blue calico rolled stump doll with a drawn face and the best wiggley line painted hair. The face has a lot of age darkening but you can see the eyebrows loop down for the nose and back up over the other eye in one coninuous line. The body is a really hard core rolled blue calico fabric that goes from the top of the head to the bottom of the trunk. She never had legs. The petticoat or skirt comes to the bottom of the stump. Her arms are rolled also and go across her chest and down the other ...

This doll is such a cute little package. She is sturdy, firmly stuffed, and a great face. She has an applied nose, intricately embroidered eyes and homespun red lips. She has mitten hands and jointed arms and legs. She is wearing a red calico dress and a brown calico apron. Everything about her is nice. She does have a mend under her lip and a stress area over her lip. They are not fragile nor do they look like they are going to get worse. It seems to be the nature of black cloth. The iron oxcid...

This is what I call a down home or servicable antique pot holder. It looks like a odd apple with a tummy sash. It is sewn nicely but with a childish feeling to it. I am sure it was used but care was taken with it. The loop at the top looks original. It is a very nice naive pot holder from the 1840's. It is 4" by 5". I love seeing these hung.

A very nice early heart shaped pin cushion made to hang from a hook or tied on to the side of a sewing basket. It is in fine condition with some pins still in it so it has been used. It is hand sewn and stuffed with cotton. The fabrics have wonderful saturated colors. It is 5" by 4" wide and 2" thick...see pictures. It is Circa 1870. The pincushions were common in New England and I have found this same shape made by the Shakers for their sewing boxes.

This sweet little brown and red doll quilt is in exellent condition with just a little fraying on one edge...see close up. I like to see signs of age like this because it shows it really old. When fabric has been folded and washed and ironed the folds start breaking down the fabric, sometimes aging is a good thing. The quilt is 6" square and is backed with a double pink calico.

This is a very nice egg wash chintz brown calico bag with a tan linen lining. It has a ribbon trim across the top and around the edges of the bag. The edges only have a little of the ribbon trim left, it has worn off over the years. The bag is in really good shape and is not fragile, it could be really used. Or great to use to store items while hanging off a hook or peg rack. 10" by 13" not including the straps. Circa 1870-80

This is a small faded red calico cloth covered book with a great look and color. The book is a Primary Reader Easy Reading Lessons, 1847 Boston. It has been used almost to the of point of being worn out. The cover was cardboard and bends in the middle vertically. I think it was the iPhone of the day a child. 4" by 61/4"
