This dynamic painted face black stockinette doll is a sturdy as you get. She has a solidly packed rag body and head that is really heavy. Under the black stockinette body, her body is covered old blue and white ticking as well as her attached arms and legs. Her hair is two tone crocheted string and yarn. A very interesting Beecher type black cloth doll with flirty eyes. Before you get really excited about a rare Beecher doll, I think that someone did this later on. Usually there is a piece of shell or white cardboard on either side of the shoe button eye and this is embroidered with white floss on the right sides of her eyes. Isn't she just grand! She is 20" tall and her whole core is a good size log, that has the irregular bumps and flares of the wood that can be felt through the black stockinette covering. This small package of a doll is just perfect in almost every way. I love her sleepy looking eyes, her curvy little body, the leather hands that go all the way to her elbows. The dress with the coverall apron has been on her forever, maybe. All the way down to her feet that have the best little shoes, not original but look so good on her. Here face is hard to read, her eyes are big round buttons, her nose is one with her eyebrows, her mouth is a V turned upside down, and two circles on either side of her head for ears. She is big and rag stuffed heavy, (I love that). On the top of her head is a braided top knot in the shape of a donut. Sometimes a doll can be appreciated for the marvel of the maker and the caretakers of a doll. She has had loving hands restore her body more than once with really skilled hands. Her body is fashioned like a leather body but there is no leather under this doll's layers of jersey, cotton, linen and maybe a little wool. Bold folk art cloth doll with drawn ink face and button eyes. I love ears and she sure has them. Her body is all original, clothes are antique, she looks great in her bonnet. Early, old, adorable button eyes, embroidered mouth, and was flannel I think. Rover is so worn that the fabric is flat. He has a not so great mend on one side of him. He is not fragile at all so maybe he was hurt in some way rather than from old age and being worn out. 7" long and 6" high. C. 1880

Sometimes dolls look like they don't want to be wearing fufu but something tells me this doll loves the bow in her hair and bustle on the back of her skirt. She looks like she is all hand sewn, she had material for hair but the mohair is all worn off so it is a nice tan fabric sewn on around her face and covering the back of her head. Extremely early bedpost doll with carved features. She is 13" tall, with very nice turnings. She has attached cloth arms that are old but not original. At least one older tack remains from the earlier arms. She is solid, heavy, no worm holes, but there are a few nail holes near the base on one side. Amish sister doll from Holmes County Ohio that are adorable, early, rag stuffed, identical clothes but one has blue and the other green. They are early for Amish dolls on the market, probably date to the 1890's-1910. They are packed with rags giving them a great hefty feel. Condition is not an issue, everything is without rips or tears, but they do have natural age related toning. They sit easily, enjoy company and would like to make new friends. This is a homemade Raggedy Andy in his original. He is in good shape but his clothes have some holes and rips, and stains but nothing that is falling off. He has some stains that comes with his job. He is 16" tall but is a small doll, his head measures just a little over 3" across. His pants are a sturdy blue felt, and his cotton striped pinky/orange shirt a few tears on one sleeve.
